‘Näste’ can temporarily for the visitor be used as a shelter or as a sleeping place. The wind shelter is on the inside designed to create the notion of being embraced and protected. A peaceful atmosphere is created when the sun brushes the continuous wood pattern on the walls; the design derives from the assembly logic, an interpretation of timbering or stacking. The wind shelter is elevated from the ground to frame and capture the view depicting the sky, Denmark, the sea, and tall grass covering the surrounding. There is a willow growing next to the shelter; Näste exists together with the tree rather than being dependent on it. The concept is that Näste is visiting the landscape and that the tree trunk and its surroundings have helped shape it. When the tall grass reaches for and brushes the bottom of the shelter, the notion that the structure has landed on the site is created. In the same way, as the shelter feels its way through the landscape, so is the visitor invited to explore this unique Näste.
