Standing in the dense beech-forest, it is easy to let one’s mind wander. The inspiration for this wind shelter “pod” is found in the dense canopies of the beech trees and in the many beech-pods that can be found among the leaves on the ground.

Pod offers protection for wanderers and becomes a magic place for both children and adults. It is a playful exploration of scale in nature, inviting people from all ages to interact, making the forest a pleasant stay during all weathers.

The structure is made with a pair of glue laminated beams that support a series of circular shaped plywood. This main structure is further stabilized by a secondary structure of slats that allows the cedar shingles to wrap around the form freely. The inner cladding is made possible through bending pine that has been soaked for up to three days in the lake
