Canopies of green stretch above the site, filtering light and rain through a ceiling of beech leaves. As time passes, the leaves fall one by one and curl up as they dry. Glimta takes inspiration from these organic forms and imagines a leaf that has curled up, creating an enclosed wind shelter that offers a safe place to rest hidden in the magnificent landscape. A central glulam beam becomes
the stem of the leaf that supports the secondary veins, each unique beam giving its shape. At the base of the stem is the entrance to the wind shelter, the arched shape of the beams beckoning visitors to lean back against the walls of the shelter and enjoy the view of the nearby pasture. The day’s last rays of sunlight are caught in Glimta before it is time for a night’s rest.
VISIT THE SITE
Just a few minutes walk east of Stataremuseet by Torups slott you’ll encounter this giant leaf.
